Ocean Villas

Rich In History

British soldiers arrived at the battlefront in the village of Auctonvillers in summer of 1915. The village was quickly renamed as "Ocean Villas".

In 1992 Avril Williams arrived in the village, and moved into an abandoned farmhouse. The family named the house "Ocean Villas". Since then the site has been expanded to include a restaurant, museum, and education centre. During the work origional trenches were unearthed, and these have become a part of the attraction.

“Ocean Villas” is one of the founding members of the Somme Battlefields Partners and has been awarded with the Bronze Medal for Tourism.
